Rotork assists BAE Systems in naval base actuator upgrades

เพรสเชอร์เกจ has been working with BAE Systems to upgrade a collection of A-range actuators to IQ3 actuators which operate penstocks controlling motion of ships between the ocean and transitional locks and dry docks at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth (HMNB Portsmouth).
A series of A-range actuators had reached the top of their operational life after lengthy service in a challenging surroundings. BAE Systems wanted to retain all the advantages of electric actuators, so IQ3 actuators were chosen. These had to be specifically adapted by Rotork to overcome issues round confined spaces and troublesome access.
IQ3 actuators and IS gearboxes have been mechanically tailored so that each actuator and gearbox might be operated by hand without getting into the confined house. Rotork designed special hand auto levers and thru drive mechanisms for the actuator and gearbox to get rid of the necessity for confined area entry.
Actuators within the IQ range are watertight, providing ingress safety to IP66/68 at 20 m for 10 days. They have a complicated dual stacked show with configurable information logger functionality, and an absolute place sensor offers reliability and accuracy.
